Dr. Mike Gniewek is a Family Physician born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He is a Dalhousie Medical School Alumnus (‘13) and continues to live and practice in his hometown. Mike started his career in primary care, providing comprehensive family medicine, emergency room care and in-patient care. His passion for primary care addiction medicine has led him to work serving the city’s homeless, street involved and marginally housed through work at Mobile Outreach Street Health (where he co-leads several harm reduction focused health initiatives) and at Direction 180 (a low barrier Opioid Agonist Treatment Centre). Mike more recently has accepted a role as one of the initial members of the Inpatient Addiction Medicine Consult Service (IAMCS) at the Halifax Infirmary.
