Vladko Pelivanov, MD, FRCPC

Dr. Vladko Pelivanov is a Staff Anesthesiologist and Chronic Pain Management Specialist with Nova Scotia Health and an Assistant Professor at Dalhousie University’s Department of Anesthesia, Pain Management, and Perioperative Medicine. He completed his residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Saskatchewan and a fellowship in Chronic Pain Management at Dalhousie University.

Over the course of more than two decades, Dr. Pelivanov has worked across Canada and internationally, combining clinical expertise with a passion for education and innovation in pain care. As former Director of the Chronic Pain Management Clinic in Saskatoon, he led multidisciplinary initiatives to improve access and quality of pain services. He is an active researcher and presenter, sharing insights at national and international conferences, and has published in the Canadian Journal of Anesthesia.

Dr. Pelivanov is deeply committed to patient-centered, evidence-based care. His professional interests include chronic pain management, addiction medicine and pain, focusing on safe opioid stewardship, treatment of co-occurring pain and substance use disorders, and advancing integrated models of care that support recovery and functional restoration, as well as anesthesia innovation and collaborative approaches that bridge research and clinical practice to improve patient outcomes.
