Michelle is the clinic manager of River Stone Recovery Centre located in Fredericton, NB. River Stone is a medical clinic that provides wrap-around support, oral opiate agonist therapy (OAT), injectable OAT (iOAT), and stimulant replacement therapy (SRT) to those with substance use disorder. She oversees day-to-day operations, hires/supervises all staff, and helps to problem-solve challenges. She also provides direct patient care, assists with care coordination, and provides patient education. As a clinic manager, a large part of the role is collaboration, team building, and mentoring. She arranges meetings to discuss and implement process changes and is helping to expand River Stone’s network by educating external agencies about the work being done at River Stone. Along with acting as clinic manager, Michelle also coordinates the nurse-led Hepatitis C (HCV) program, engages in policy/advocacy work with Action Hepatitis Canada, and is provincial coordinator for Dried Blood Spot Testing. Michelle, who just completed her nurse practitioner degree, is actively creating a primary care program that addresses the unmet health needs of the vulnerable populations in downtown Fredericton.
